What IS An Elopement?
An elopement is an intimate wedding that focuses on YOU as a couple and your commitment together. Instead of focusing on the production of a big wedding, an elopement allows you to strictly focus on what's important: Your love for each other.
While many couples choose to elope alone, other choose to elope in the company of a few close family members or friends. We often find that many couples who elope then choose to host a relaxed celebration with all of their family and friends at a later date.
Now, what's the benefit of eloping?
You get to do YOU. There are no rules when it comes to an elopement and you get to create an unforgettable experience that truly reflects you and your fiance. Picturing saying your 'I Dos' on a white sandy beach and ending the day with a romantic dinner overlooking the ocean. Or maybe you would rather exchange your vows in a hot air balloon at sunset. Or maybe you would prefer to hike into the wilderness and profess your love in the remote wilderness. Or maybe you want to exchange vows while sipping on a local micro brew in the middle of the desert. That's the beauty of an elopement. You have the freedom to do what feels authentic to you. And we are here to make that happen.

We aim to create a very guided and direct experience, filled with personalization. We never want you to be wondering 'what's next' or 'what should I be expecting.' We also never want you to feel like one of many, and have created a tried and true method that makes you feel like our only client.

While there are SO many places you can choose to elope in San Diego, these are a few of our favorites!
La Jolla
Cuvier Park
Cuvier Park, which is also known as the wedding bowl, is one of the most popular places to elope in San Diego.
This grassy knoll overlooking the Pacific Ocean is the perfect place to say 'I Do' if you want the gorgeous ocean views, but don't want to get your feet dirty in the sand.
Our favorite part of Cuvier Park? The surrounding cliffs! They serve a the perfect backdrop for ultra romantic and dramatic photos.
Keep in mind that a permit is required elope at Cuvier Park.

Ocean Beach
Sunset Cliffs
These breathtaking seaside cliffs are named 'Sunset Cliffs' for a reason. If you are looking to elope in the evening and catch a gorgeous sunset, this is going to be one of the best possible locations!
These cliffs are nestled near Ocean Beach and have a more desert feel than the grassy knoll at Cuvier Park.
Once again, you will need a permit to tie the knot at Sunset Cliffs.
Coronado Beaches
Coronardo is known for it's picturescue white sandy beaches and makes a stunning backdrop for an elopement!
While the Pacific Ocean views in Coronado are truly stunning, you also have the ability to elope on the bayside of the island with views of downtown San Diego in the background.
The best part about eloping in Coronado? No permits are required! That's right, as long as your count is small and you don't have any decor (ie. chairs, an arch) you don't need to worry about a permit! While this allows for more flexibility, be aware that you are still saying your 'I Dos' in a public space and there many be lots of people surrounding you.
Seagrove Park
Seagrove Park is a lush green lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is located directly above the beach and walking distance from downtown Del Mar.
The best part about eloping at Seagrove Park is that you are also walking distance to all the gorgeous Del Mar beaches, which makes for great photo opportunities!
As long as you have fewer than 24 guests and no setup, a permit is not required here. Keep in mind that it is very busy here on the weekends and someone with a permit will always have priority.
Balboa Park
If you are looking for somewhere with a lot of history and gorgeous architecture, then Balboa Park is a great place to look.
While it's known for it old world Spanish Architecture, it is also known it's many gorgeous gardens, including the Botanical Gardens the Cactus Gardens.
If you are looking to elope in San Diego, but aren't interested in a coastal wedding, Balboa Park could be a great option for you!
Joshua Tree
If you are looking to veer away from a traditional San Diego beach elopement, you should consider definitely consider Joshua Tree! The desert scenery is gorgeous and the sunsets are stunning.
A While there are many places to elope in Joshua Tree, Cap Rock, Live Oak, Split Rock and Rattlesnake Picnic Area are a few of the designated ceremony locations.
In order to get married in Joshua Tree, you will need both a Special Event Permit and a Photography Permit.
Pioneertown
If you are looking for something completely non-traditional, then Pioneertown just might be your go to! This charming town is a revitalized Old West town originally built as a 1940's movie set.
It is located in the Mojave Desert about 2.5 hours away from San Diego and provides endless photo opportunities for your elopement.
You will need a special events permit to say 'I Do' in Pioneertown.
Glamis + Imperial Sand Dunes
Located in the souteast corner of California, the Imperial San Dunes are the largest mass of sand dunes in the state. Originally formed by windblown sands of ancient Lake Cahuilla, these dunes extend more than 40 miles.
If you are looking for a completely unique San Diego elopement, the sand dunes are a great option and provide a stunning backdrop for photos.
You will need a permit in order to get married at the Sand Dunes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do We Need A Permit To Elope?
Most likely, yes. While there are a few locations in San Diego that do not a require a permit, most of them will. The cost of these can range, but $250 tends to be the average.
What Is The Best Time Of Day To Elope?
This all depends on where you are wanting to elope, but in general we recommend 1-2 hours before sunset. This is usually when lighting is the best and you are going to get the best photos. Another great option for earlier risers is a sunrise elopement! Basically, we don't usually recommend smack dab in the middle of the day.
What Should I Wear?
What ever you want! Just Kidding. We usually recommend you dress up to make the day feel like a wedding! For some of our couples that is traditional wedding attire, while others opt for something less traditional. Don't worry, we will give you lots of suggestions here!
