Waiting in line is a definite way to kill the mood, and waiting in line for a drink at a wedding is certainly no exception to this! As the host of your wedding, you want your guests to have a great time and don't want them stuck standing in line all night long. For that reason we’ve compiled a list of ways to minimize the bar line, so your wedding is a great time for everyone!
Make sure there are enough bartenders - Probably the most simple solution of them all is to make sure there are enough bartenders working. To ensure a steady moving line, we suggest hiring 1 bartender for every 75 guests!
Narrow down the drink options - With less drink options on the menu, the bartenders will spend less time making all the different concoctions. Also, keep in mind that cocktails take longer to make! So, we suggest sticking to a simple menu, like beer and wine only, if you really want to cut down the time in line!
Scatter several bars in different areas - With several different bars scattered around the reception, your guests won’t be creating such a long line at each of them!
Have servers tray-pass drinks - If a guest is offered a drink without having to walk to a bar to get it, chances are they will take it! We suggest having servers walk around the cocktail hour or reception area with drinks on a tray. This will satisfy guests so they won’t feel the need to get in line.
Pour drinks and tray-pass down the line - As much as we prepare, sometimes things still don’t go exactly as we want them to. So, in the case that the line at the bar does get too long, this would be our tip to get things up and running again! Have the bartenders pour some drinks, place it on a tray, then pass it down the line. This way, guests in line can grab what they want and go!
Cheers!
