Sarah + Kyle's Organic Micro Wedding At The Del Mar Surf Club

MICRO WEDDING ALERT!

Okay, let me just start by saying that I absolutely loved working with Sarah and Kyle! They were such a fun and laid back couple who knew exactly what they were wanting for their big day.

When we started working with them, they were planning on tying the knot at Seagrove Park and partying the night away with their family and friends at the Del Mar Surf Station. The Del Mar Surf Station held sentimental value for Sarah and she was excited that they were able to include it in their wedding day.

Fast forward to 2020 and their plans were brought to a screeching halt. Like so many couples, they played the waiting game and hoped to be able to move forward with their original plan. Unfortunately, once they hit the 2 months out mark, they realized things weren't going to change and they simply needed to adjust their plans. At that point, they decreased their guest count from over 100 to less than 20 people and changed their venue multiple times.

After lots of back and forth, they ended up back at the Del Mar Surf Station, as that was ultimately an important part of the day. And let me tell you, I'm SO happy we were able to make that venue work, as it was truly the perfect place for these two.

When it came to the wedding day, Sarah looked gorgeous in her simple, yet extremely elegant gown and Kyle looked sharp in his black tux. Their go-to looks were perfect for their very natural and elegant infused wedding.

CEREMONY:

When it came to designing the ceremony, Sarah had two things on her wish list. She wanted a gorgeous arch and she wanted wooden cross back chairs. Check! Moonlight Floral knocked it out of the park for their arch and it was definitely the perfect statement backdrop for their ceremony.

I also have to admit that while I LOVE all the décor, my favorite part of their ceremony was the vintage 'Del Mar Surf Station' sign. At first, Sarah talked about covering this up, but I honestly think it fit in PERFECTLY to the aesthetic of the day.

POWER HOUR:

Yes, I said Power Hour! Because Sarah and Kyle opted for a small wedding, they decided to live stream the day for all of their family and friends that weren't able to attend the day. In order to make the live streaming process seamless and all-inclusive, we put together a 'power hour' right after the ceremony! This took place in the same place as the ceremony and included all the 'formalities' of a traditional wedding, such as traditional dances, toasts and cake cutting. Putting this all right after the ceremony, truly allowed all their 'at home' guests to fully enjoy the festivities with them.

RECEPTION:

With 'Plan A', Sarah really wanted wooden tables, cross back chairs and cabanas to provide shade for all of their guests. She ultimately wanted the da to feel very natural, but also filled with gorgeous floral!

In going to 'Plan B,' we tried to keep as much of the original plan as possible. We definitely made a point to keep Sarah's favorite tables and chairs and brought in breathtaking floral. We also added some gorgeous rattan chandeliers to make the dinner feel more intimate, while also emulating the idea of a cabana. :)

If you ask me, it came together wonderfully and was the perfect dinner setting for Sarah, Kyle and their guests.
