BRICK San Diego Wedding | Amanda + Bill

Updated: May 14, 2021

Today we are loving life and re-living Amanda and Bill's modern wedding at Brick San Diego. We were lucky enough to able to work with Amanda and Bill through the entire planning process and it was seriously a DREAM! They were such a blast to work with and had so many fun ideas!

When it came to overall feel of the day, Amanda and Bill wanted a wedding that felt very modern, moody and intentional, and they wanted it to be very interactive for their guests. They truly wanted their day to feel like 'them' and they wanted to be sure their guests had things to do throughout the evening. With this in mind, Brick was seriously the perfect wedding venue for them!

The first step in putting this vision together was creating the color scheme, which included deep reds, lots of greenery, hints of blue and accents of copper. We also added touches of a lighter blush in order to really make those deep colors pop. This color scheme then served as a base bone to the entire design aesthetic.

When it came to the official wedding day, the day started out wonderfully! The girls enjoyed a relaxing morning of getting ready at Amanda and Bill's adorable house. And I have to admit, Amanda looked absolutely stunning in her gorgeous ballgown!

Shortly after the girls got ready, Bill and the guys joined the fun for Amanda and Bill's first look and bridal party photos, which took place in their backyard. (Oh, and they were also able to get some adorable photos with their fur child!) Let me just tell you, their charming house ended up being an amazing spot for these photos!

In designing the details for the day, we, naturally, started with the ceremony. Amanda and Bill were Jewish and wanted to find a way to create a wedding huppah within the black canvas that in known as Brick. In order to create something unique, we designed an 8' square wooden huppah that hung from the ceiling. AHR Floral then killed it by using greenery and floral to mimic the look of the 4 posts. To top off the look, we arranged the chairs in a circle surrounding the hanging huppah. Oh, and the best part was that Amanda's Dad built the actual wooden structure!

After the ceremony ended, we sent all the guests out to the patio for cocktail hour and completely transformed BRICK from a wedding ceremony to an moody and romantic wedding reception!

In order to do this, we left the huppah hanging in order to create a statement piece over the dance floor, and we mixed farm tables with round tables to create dimension. When it came to table decor, we kept the place settings simple very intentional with napkins and white menus, and accented with lots lots of greenery, floral and candles! We then topped off each table with a fun copper table number.

In order to add in a more interactive approach to the day, we added few other design elements worth mentioning. The first was a custom photo booth station. For this, we brought in 2 mauve velvet chairs and created a modern backdrop, made up of white metal, hanging candles and a custom sign with Amanda and Bill's wedding date. This served as such a fun backdrop for guests! The second design element was a fun donut wall. In order to tie the aesthetics together, we mimicked the look of the photo backdrop for the donut station!

Last, but not least, was the Tap Truck. The Tap Truck was a classic white truck that had beer taps attached to the outside. This was such a fun and unique addition to the bar and was a definite focal point of the day! I have to admit, all of these setups came together perfectly and created fun interactive stations for their guests.

Once guests made their way back inside for the reception, they had the option of a number of fun food stations, and then danced the night away with the adorable bride and groom. Be sure to scroll on down to see all the fun in action!
